"THE BIGGEST LOSER UMP 2.0 CAMPUS CHALLENGE"

 

“The Biggest Loser 2,0 Campus Challenge” or known as “TBL” one of intervention program organized by the Secretariat of Generasi Siswa Sihat, Universiti Malaysia Pahang formely known as GENESIS UMP with collaboration of Pusat Kesihatan Universiti, Jabatan Hal Ehwal Pelajar & Alumni, Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Pahang (JKNP), Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM) and other agencies. TBL 2.0 motto is “Don’t Lose Confidence, Lose Weight”.

Main objectives of this program are to promote and expose UMP students especially from Gambang and Pekan campus to practice a healthy lifestyle and have an ideal weight. In addition, this programme also to ensure UMP students always are at a satisfactory level of mental and physical health. All activities conducted were including the mental, spiritual and physical aspect that have been applied during training and exercise.

The program has lasted for seven months starting on 25 October 2017 to 21 April 2018 which involving participation of UMP students from both campus of Universiti Malaysia Pahang. About 125 students were registered and screened for individual health assessment. 26 out of 125 have been trained fully by certified coach, also staff from Pusat Kesihatan Universiti, UMP and with help by the instructor that have been trained. Then, 10 out of 26 participants had succeed to join this intervention program till the end and after a phase-by-phase training.

This intervention programme were focused on the commitment of each participant based on module which covered mental and physical health and training that have been provided by Certified Personal Trainer, Coach Ramddan Zahari.

  

  

Activities conducted every Monday till Saturday from 5 to 7 in evening and all participants were welcome to join the training which not only for those who were succeed the phase by phase screening. There are many activities and training have been done such as 10 thousand steps, jogging, running, hiking, cycling, High Interval Training (HIIT), gym workout, Frisbee, kayak, ball games and others.

On 30th of April were held the closing ceremony for “The Biggest Loser 2.0 Campus Challenge” correspond with the “World No Tobacco Day 20.18” and also announcing for the winner for this programme for those who are achieving most higher weight loss percentage. 7 participants have been chosen as the finalist and they were rewarded with smart watch each. Nur Farhani Aqilah was the winner for the program with weight loss percentage of 29% and she has been given a certificate, cash money of RM 300.00 and smart watch.

This programme received a lot of recommendation in improving and some of them are supporting this intervention program which can help UMP’s students achieving a good and healthy lifestyle. Through this program, UMP students also can improve their social skills, practising a healthy lifestyle in alternatives ways which by improving their knowledge and information on health with guidance from certified personal coach. It able to change the normal lifestyle of UMP students to a better and healthy lifestyle without neglecting their study.

In a nutshell, this intervention program should be conducted annually because this program is a big chance and opportunities for UMP students itself to have beneficial activities and healthy during their leisure time.
