"THE BIGGEST LOSER UMP 1.0 CAMPUS CHALLENGE 2016/17"

The UMP Secretariat Genesis under Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) is eyeing collaboration with other State and other Government bodies to organise the ‘The Biggest Loser' programme which is held from 19 September 2016 until 3rd March 2017.

The objectives of the Biggest Loser Programme is to encourage the UMP’s students to gain  healthy wellness habits and lose unhealthy habits as they participate in the programme. Besides, practising a healthy       lifestyle and to achieve their ideal body weight, this programme also is the specialised training programme for students to achieve their goals satisfactory level of health, physically, mental, and spiritual towards various exercises activities organise in campus.

The program was held in two campuses mainly in Gambang and Pekan from 19 September 2016 until 3 March 2017. Out of 120 participants, 20 has been selected to the final stage based on phase-by-phase basis.

The programme is lead and trained by the certified and fitness coach, Ramddan Zahari from UMP. Most of the selected participants are given their full commitment towards the module theory provided which is focusing on both physical and mental training. The sports and physical activities include High intensity interval training (HIIT), gym workout and 10 thousand steps.

The winner of the first Biggest Loser Programme is Mohd Ridzuan Othman. He managed to lose a total of 35% within 6 months.

Besides create awareness and the importance of health to UMP’s students, working out with this program including the advice and tips from the Biggest Loser experts coach helps them gain more knowledge, at the same time lose weight. It also helps to create effective workouts and successful achievement towards healthy lifestyle among the students in campus environment.

Between exams, papers and maintaining an active social life, many university students feel they can't really find the time to keep up on their personal health and wellness until an illness catches hold and stops them in their tracks. With most university providing health care and endless physical activities for students, staying healthy in university is about as easy as it will ever get. Advices from the certified coach and the Biggest Looser committee members in this programme, will help students make the most of the resources at their fingertips and to ensure they stay healthy and illness free throughout their education.

Running a biggest loser program at university level will encourage students to eat healthier and get regular exercise. It will also help create a healthy lifestyle which is beneficial to them after graduate. Remember that a lot of people nowadays are too sensitive about their weight, and this programme should be continuously implemented for ongoing improvements.
